It is obvious from measurements that an infant does a lot of growing in the few months. Eye development is moving at a fast pace and each month your child can see clearer and more focused. The more an infant is a stimulated the stronger her vision will be. Developing the optic nerve takes time, there are ways you can help.
At birth a newborn can only see about 8 to 10 inches in front of them. Being unable to focus clearly leaves a newborn unable to distinguish faces. They often prefer gazing at highly contrasting colors or black and white images. Give them a brightly contrasted toy to peak their interest and stimulate their vision.
Month One
During month one of baby’s life, your child’s eyes are catching up to the way most adults see the world. Coordinating eye movements so eyes work together is a fun adventure to watch your baby achieve. Many times the first two months are full of cross eyed and uneven eye movements.
