Your Baby’s Cold – When to Call the Pediatrician

Try to elevate your baby mattress just slightly so their nose will drain. Only a slight incline is needed and be sure to keep the crib or sleeping area safe for your baby.

When to Call the Doctor

If your child’s cold is accompanied by a fever or has turned several colors(clear, yellow and then green) this may be a good time to call your pediatrician.  A common cold will have clear nasal discharge while an infection may look different. A fever is also a sign of infection.

If after trying the above at home tricks your baby is worse or still running a fever, schedule a sick visit. The American Association of Pediatrics recommends to always call your pediatrician whether a small concern or an emergency. Better safe than sorry!
