A Guide to Wearing Denim while Pregnant

Denim Girls Unite

Are you a denim girl? Does your wardrobe consist mainly of denim jeans, shorts, skirts and jackets? During pregnancy most women think of stretchy fabrics and breathable materials so you would not normally think of wearing denim while pregnant. To a die-hard denim fan like myself, this may come as a shock to the system if “denim” was a taboo word for the nine-month duration. Fortunately, this is not the case and many, many pregnant women wear denim in the first, second and yes, even in the third trimester of pregnancy.

Clothing Designers and Their Maternity Jeans

Thank goodness clothing designers not only design clothes but also wear them too and yes, they even conceive and bear children! Today maternity jeans are commonly found in maternity specialty stores because they are both fashionable and comfortable to wear while pregnant. Maternity jeans can be worn for just about any occasion because they can be accessorized and worn mixed with tops, sweaters and cardigans or even a suit jacket. Maternity jeans come in various styles such as maternity boot jeans, trouser jeans and wide leg jeans. Hot maternity styled jeans can also be found in low rise, rolls panel, full panel, tall, flare and skinny jeans. Pair maternity denim jeans with your favorite blouse, top or sweater and you are ready to make a fashion statement.

Maternity Denim Skirts

Maternity denim skirts can also be added to your pregnancy wardrobe because they can flatter your expanding waistline in several different looks, styles and lengths including the ripped detail denim skirt, maternity front pleat denim skirt, denim skirts with contrast color stitching or with a button in the front of the waist. You can look great in denim skirts that are A-line and made with stretch fabric, are knee length with pockets, pencil fit or straight fit above the knee denim skirts. Maternity denim allows women to choose style and comfort when they understand the importance of choosing the right cut, fit, style and type of wash as they make a purchase decision. These are all important things to keep in mind when buying denim for any body type especially the pregnant kind.

If the weather is on the warm side when you are pregnant don’t forget how hot short denim shorts can be when sporting a baby belly.
