4 Great Ways to Comfort During Baby’s First Cold

If you baby is very congested, try to keep them in an elevated position. Meaning upright or propped up slightly. Use a folded towel to insert under the end of mattress your baby sleep with her head. This will keep nasal passages clearer and allow your hild to breathe easier while asleep.

4) Fluids

Give baby extra fluids. If your child is of the age where you doctor says it is ok for them to drink water, give them water. If you are still nursing allow baby to nurse on demand in order to increase fluid intake. Fluids will help flush the mucus out of their system.

Never give a baby medicine that your doctor does not approve. Many medicines have adverse affects on babies and can do more harm than good. According to the Mayo Clinic, if your infant under the age of two months is running a fever call your pediatrician immediately. Otherwise follow these recommendations and during baby’s first cold, keep him comfortable.
