True or False: Carrying Style Predicts Baby’s Gender?

The height and shape of your bump is completely unrelated to your baby’s gender. Myth busted.

There are a lot of factors that can affect how you carry your baby, including your baby’s position, your muscle and uterine tone. If your baby happens to be low in your belly, he or she is probably just lying closer to the pelvis. And if you happen to be a tall woman and you’ve got great muscle tone, chances are you’ll carry your baby high. Likewise, if you’re short, it’s no wonder that your bump is going to be round and more in the middle.

And, girl or boy, your bump is going to drop lower once you get closer to your due date. You’ll carry low in those final weeks no matter what the gender.

Carrying styles are definitely fun to analyze if you’re keeping your baby’s gender a secret until the big day. But remember, the second trimester ultrasound is the most accurate way to determine whether you’re having a little boy or girl.
