2nd – Accept that it’s dirty work.
To change a newborn’s diaper, lay him flat on his back on a towel or blanket-covered surface, place a clean diaper underneath the baby’s bottom and hold the baby’s legs slightly in the air with one hand while removing the dirty cloth with the other. Using wipes, clear any leftover debris by wiping from front to back and then place the baby back down on the new diaper and apply the plastic straps. If this sounds easy, it likely won’t be. But with practice, diaper changing will become second nature to new parents – just make sure to watch out for baby boys, many of whom are known to use the restroom during the exact moment they have no diaper on at all.
