Does Stress in NICU Cause Reduction in Infant Brain Size?

Now, in a study of 44 preterm infants, researchers have found that the average daily exposure to stressors was greatest in the first 14 days, and the greater the number of stressors the infant was exposed to, the smaller the frontal and parietal brain width.

Long-term consequences of this reduced brain size are unknown, the researchers point out.
