How to Handle Questions About Your Fertility Treatments

Answering Subtle Hints

Some well meaning friends and family may not take these subtle hints, and you may need to tell them that you’re not comfortable answering such questions. Tell them instead, that they’ll be one of the first to know when you do have news to tell.

Sometimes the best way to deal with people asking about your fertility treatments is to say nothing at all. Treatments can be long and laborious, and success is never guaranteed. Rather than tell people about your treatments, keep silent until you have good news to share.

Infertility is a painful and very personal issue. Remember that this is your body and your child; you don’t owe anybody an explanation. Try to remember that people don’t usually ask questions to be hurtful, but while their curiosity can be hurtful it was not intentional.
