Your Baby’s Eyes are Growing and Developing Rapidly
A lot is going on during pregnancy in regards to fetal eye development. Your baby is hard at work and doing some serious growing. Her eyes are not fully developed or open until later in pregnancy. This is only to protect the eye structures inside and very important for proper growth!
A very important part of the human body is the eyes and eyesight. The eyes begin developing two weeks after conception. Over the next four weeks all of the major eye structures form.
While these major structures are forming, the fetal eye is very vulnerable. Drugs and alcohol can harm the developing eye of a fetus and some illness can cause complications.
