You Can Stay Hydrated Even During Summer

Regardless of whether you’re pregnant or trying to conceive, you can find ways to stay hydrated in the summer. Keeping hydrated is crucial in the summertime, when the temperatures are high. More than half of the human body is made of water; each cell, tissue, and organ requires water to function properly. Not only is water good for your overall health, but your body also uses water to regulate your body temperature.

Hydration Summer

Since you lose water naturally through sweat and urine, you need to replenish your natural supply of fluid by drinking at least six to eight glasses a day. Not everyone likes drinking water, so here are some fun ways to stay hydrated in summer.

  • 1) Eat plenty of water-filled foods. There are plenty of fruits and vegetables that have a high water content. Eating them can go toward your daily water requirement. Watermelon and other melons (like cantaloupe) are wonderful fruits to enjoy in the summertime. Melons contain over 90 percent of water, and their sweet flavor can truly satisfy your taste buds. You can also stay hydrated in the summer by eating a healthy salad with lettuce and tomato (which has 93 percent of water).
  • 2) Try flavored water. Drinking water can be difficult, especially if you love drinking soft drinks and sugary juices and you don’t like the bland taste of water. To stay hydrated in the summer, consider drinking flavored water to get your recommended amount of water. Flavored water typically is lower in calories and has less sugar than other beverages. Some brands of flavored water claim that their products are sugar-free.

To stay hydrated in the summer, it’s also important that you start drinking before your mouth goes dry ““ this means, you’re on your way to becoming dehydrated. Make sure that you drink a glass of water (or more) every few hours. You should also drink plenty of water before you eat. Water fills up your stomach, which helps you eat less at meals and may aid with weight loss (or at least prevents you from overeating).
