According to the American Pregnancy Association, large amounts of caffeine should be avoided during pregnancy, as it can lead to miscarriage. This guideline extends to diet sodas, which may still contain caffeine even if they are sugar-free.

A safe amount is 300 milligrams of caffeine per day or less but in general, a woman should aim to be caffeine-free when it comes to diet soda and pregnancy.
