Babies are Designed to Breastfeed
At birth all babies are designed to breastfeed. Some mothers choose to feed formula and a baby will get the nutrition it needs from a liquid diet. Often an age is specified when to start solid food with your infant. Just as every baby is different in reaching their developmental milestones, every baby is ready for solid food at different ages.
A few very simple ways to tell if your baby is ready to experiment with solids or purees are as follows:
1) Can your baby hold his or her head in a steady, upright position?
2) Can your baby sit with support?
