“My cast is now resting in my sewing/craft room, hanging up as inspiration of birth and renewal,” she says.
So, should you take the plunge and be part of this unique pregnancy memory? Well, it’s not for everyone.
“I wouldn’t necessarily encourage a soon-to-be mother to do a belly casting. Like anything, I think it’s a matter of personal choice,” Stark says. “While I liked doing the casting, I can say that it’s not for everyone, and not everyone is supported by their peers in the process.”
Harriman agreed that it might not be for everyone.
“I would say that if a woman wants a belly cast, that she should do it with her closest friends or her partner. She has to be topless and have people touching her naked belly and breasts,” she says. “A lot of women do them at blessingways because that is an intimate ceremony/ritual with her closest friends and family.”
