“I really wish I had brought cute, comfy clothes most of all. I didn’t ever want to take pictures because I looked frumpy, which of course, makes me sad that I don’t really have any pictures from my sons first five days of life,” Erica says.
Snack Attack
Mom of one, Laura Peifer of Houston, Texas says she made a huge list of snacks ahead of time. Food was key.
“I was thankful that I could eat a little to keep up my energy, and I didn’t trust that the hospital would have food I would be interested in,” she says.
Not all hospitals or birthing centers, however, allow you to bring your own food and drinks. “Talk with your doctor or midwife about what is allowed in the room. Can you bring your own food/drinks? Do you need a large shirt or nightgown for delivery? Do you need to bring anything for the baby? Hospitals can vary on their guidelines for these items,” says Laura.
Make Me Pretty
Mom of two, Jennifer, wishes she had packed her makeup.
“It may sound silly, but I would love to have “˜pretty’ pictures of either of my daughters in the hospital. I love the pictures I have but I am not confident enough to show them to people when they ask. If I would have packed my makeup, I could have gotten all dolled up and would have better pictures of show off,” Jennifer explains.
