Bryce Dallas Howard welcomed her first daughter over the weekend, according to the baby's grandfather and Howard's famous father, Ron Howard.
The Los Angeles Times reports the director took to Twitter to announce the new arrival of Beatrice Jean Howard-Gabel, who joins her big brother Theo, 4. Dallas Howard, who most recently starred in "The Help," received a number of Hollywood well-wishes by way of her father's Twitter account.
"@RealRonHoward: Beatrice Jean Howard-Gabel Born Jan 19 2012 8lbs 6oz Congrats Ron from bryce's help family! :-)" Tweeted Howard's "The Help" co-star Octavia Spencer.
Motherhood has not always been easy for the actress. The news provider reports that Howard was struck with postpartum depression after giving birth to Theo in 2007.
"I felt I was failing at breast-feeding. My house was a mess. I believed I was a terrible dog owner. I was certain I was an awful actress. … I definitely felt I was a rotten mother – not a bad one, a rotten one," she wrote on a blog.
People Magazine reports that although the actress and her husband, Seth Gabel, found out the sex of the baby back in September, they decided to keep it a secret.
