How to Identify Newborn Milestones and What They Mean

Communication

This sounds silly, but even newborns are able to communicate.  They do this by sending signals such as crying when hungry or stopping when rocked. Soon after a few weeks of life a newborn can even make eye contact and mimic your coos and sounds. Talk to your baby, sing songs and interact with them.

During your baby’s first few months your pediatrician will help you identify newborn milestones and whether or not your baby is meeting them.  If ever concerned your newborn is having trouble developmentally, call you pediatrician. All babies progress at different paces but if there is ever concern speak up, it can’t hurt and  will ease your mind.
