Back Off! 7 Methods of Avoiding Unwanted Baby Bump Touching

5) Take a Phantom Phone Call
If you’re talking with a stranger and you see that they’re coming in for a belly pat, reach for your phone and politely say, “Sorry, I have to take this call.” Then step away out of reach.

6) Wear a “Don’t Touch” T-Shirt

If you’re going to be around a lot of people you don’t know, consider wearing one of the many cute t-shirts that have a stop sign on them cautioning people not to touch your belly bump. It may be a more direct approach but it sure does work.

7) Stand Close to Your Significant Other

For some reason, baby bump touchers are less inclined to touch bellies if you’re standing up close to somebody else. If you’re talking with people, take the arm of your significant other or friend and step up close to them. This might be enough to deter somebody from touching your belly bump.

For some pregnant women, there are few things more invasive than having a stranger reach out and touch their belly bump. Shock is felt, followed by disbelief, that somebody could actually invade your space like that. Consider using one of these strategies next time you’re out to avoid the invasive, if well-meant, baby bump touches.
