Support
Having a supportive team with you when giving birth is an essential component to a positive birthing experience. Have your partner attend birthing class with you and maybe even have him come to your doctor’s visits so that he can ask questions as well. Don’t hesitate to let him know what you will need and want from him during that time. Do you prefer supportive whispers or dead silence? Do you want him to be proactive about having you change positions or initiating massage or do you prefer that he follow your lead instead? Discuss all this beforehand so that he can be as supportive of you as possible, and so that you can feel confident that he’ll be able to tend to your needs during labor.
Labor and delivery, while a little scary for everyone involved, doesn’t have to be an overly fearful experience. There are many things you can do ahead of time to help you go into your labor free of fear!
