It may seem silly to make a weekly planner if you can’t leave your bedroom; however, surviving bedrest will be easier if you try to stick to some kind of routine. Try to wake up at the same time every day and change your clothes, put on a little makeup or fix your hair. Make grocery lists and clip coupons for your spouse to take to the store. Create a weekly chart for all of the chores that need done around the house. If you have older children, plan a time for them to come to your room after school. This way you will be able to help them with homework and catch up on everything that happened that day at school.
4) Plan a Scrapbook Party
Surviving bedrest can be more enjoyable if you stay busy and plan for your baby. Invite family members, friends and your children to your room for a scrapbook party. Each person can create a new page for a scrapbook that will be dedicated to the new baby. Take time to plan a theme for each person’s page, such as baby’s first words, first tooth or first steps. The pages can also be geared towards holidays, such as Halloween, Christmas or Easter. Email or call each person to let him or her know what theme to follow when creating the page. If you do not want visitors, ask family and friends to mail you their completed scrapbook pages. Take time to assemble the pages into a binder to be used as your baby book.
Surviving bedrest will be easier if you spend plenty of quality time with your spouse and other children. Don’t be afraid to ask for help and reach out to family, friends and online support groups during the time you are on bedrest.
