3) Childcare Swaps
Do you know other families with young children? Maybe you can set up a childcare swap; I’ll watch your kids on Mondays and Tuesdays and you watch mine on Thursdays and Fridays. If you can utilize this kind of arrangement and get some help from family or friends, it may be a great way to save some money. You’ll want to make sure, though, that both you and the mom you’re swapping time with are comfortable caring for the total number of children. Caring for three or more young infants without help can be very difficult, and even unsafe. But if there’s a way to make it work, it’s a great option.
4) Flex Work Time
Not really a childcare option, but making arrangements with your employer for a flexible work schedule can give you more time to be at home. Some options are working four 10 hour days instead of five, telecommuting part or full time, and job-sharing (where you and another employee split one full time position). Reducing the number of hours of have to work will also reduce the number of hours you need to find childcare for your multiples.
