Deli Meats & Pregnancy

The symptoms of listeriosis are flu-like with aching sensations, diarrhea, vomiting and fever. Call your doctor or head to the emergency room if you are pregnant and suspect you have food poisoning.

Shelf lives

Store unopened, sealed packaged foods no more than two weeks; once opened, toss leftovers after three to five days. This applies to deli meats and imported soft cheeses. Keep a Sharpie or permanent marker in your kitchen and write the date you open the meats on the package. Even better, buy your own turkey breast, roast it, slice it and enjoy it!

Follow the mantra: “When in doubt, throw it out.”
