Dr. Monique LeBourgeois, a sleep scientist at the University of Colorado at Boulder, and her colleagues recently conducted the first study on how napping affects the cortisol awakening response, a very specific hormone that is released after waking.
Stopping naps anytime earlier than necessary may have a detrimental but inconclusive effect on your baby’s brain. The emotional and mood effect napping has on a child is obvious, but the result on the actual brain is not apparent. However, there is an effect.
